I love my family

Grandpa Owen King singing to Taylor Owen Grandma Helen, Julie, Grandpa Owen King, and Taylor Owen Julie, Taylor, Grandpa, and Caleb Julie King Black & Grandpa Owen King I just wanted to say that I have had a swelling in my heart toward my relatives. Including, of course, my in-laws. I sure miss everyone I am not around. Josh and I are never going to be in a place where both our families live and that is so hard. The best I can do is to really enjoy the family I have near me. And it is really killing me right now to not be near famliy that are nearing the end of their life. I hope heaven is easier to traverse. Grandpa King attended Utah State He was drafted mid school His county draft number was 10, and national number 90. He was stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington He volunteered to go with battery B. of the 1st battalion to Manila. He stopped at Pearl Harbor for a few days. Seven days after they left, it was bombed. The Japanese had taken Manila, so they went to Darwin Australi...

Converse Judson ISD Stadium

Yes, this is what I think of when I pass the local high school stadium!! Carroll in blue Converse Judson in red My alma mater, Carroll High School, never beat Converse Judson (our current high school district) in football in it's history. So says brother Andrew. You know, just a little heresaytoid for you. Anyhow, while passing the nearby stadium Taylor marveled saying, "Do they have time-out on those stairs?" Below is a portion of the picture of the band my first year in Texas. I am the tall one in the middle. Crazy blue colors. Luckily we got new uniforms the next year. A memory I will never forgot: We traveled all over south Texas, it seemed, every Friday for football games. I ended up on the freshman/sophomore bus because I moved there during the summer after the sign-up sheets were full. On one of the bus rides a small (young) hispanic girl said, "you remind me of Falcor from Neverending story- because you are BIG and WHITE !" I laughed at the time. I...

Picasa's new face recognition & Cheeks Magee

I have 84 pictures of Taylor on our computer hard drive because I am collecting pictures of Taylor's first year of life to put in a photo album. (It's like a scrapbook without the (s)crap?) You may remember them. Anyhow, Picasa, Google's photo editing software now recognizes faces and catagorizes pictures by name. It pulled up this many cheeky pictures of Taylor. I believe it was Amanda (sister in law) who first called Taylor "Cheeks Magee." That was before "Lunch Face" really took hold. I really love that naughty kid.

New Year's Day

Josh's brother Dan and his family came to visit us from Plano on New Year's day. It was great to see them. Even though Taylor is crazy, I think he enjoyed playing with his two year old cousin, Jacob. The fun weekend culminated with a cockroach running across the kitchen. I freaked out and Michelle got it out of the house for me. That was embarassing!

Clearing my dry erase board

Every time my kids say something funny i write it on our dry erase board so I can remember it. I am now ready to erase it, so we can actually use it for what it is intended (shopping list, reminders, etc .) Taylor: hotdogspital (hospital) collage cheese (cottage cheese) fru nacks (fruit snacks) snowflakes (frosted flakes) I want some two um (I want two) A child's prayer "help us make me better, thanks for the dinosaurs, thanks for this prayer, thanks for Christmas, thanks for dad and mom, thanks for the napkins." conversations with Caleb- me: let's save your sandwich in a sandwich bag until you are ready to eat it. Caleb: no, no. no! We should really use plastic reusable containers. me: Caleb I am not going to let you go to PBS kids.org anymore Caleb: mom, it is bad for the environment. no! don't put my sandwich in a plastic bag! (lots of crying) me: dang it. we have already purchased this bag and it will already be ruining the environment whether we u...

microfibre is da bomb

So Taylor wrote all over our microfiber couches with pen and pink highlighter. ! Now these are just a few of the spots he inked. Initially I screamed in horror so that my throat was soar and then had a mental/emmotional break down. I had to put everyone in the car in seat belts and drive away from the house to keep the children locked down and safe from their mother. Frantically I read online about how to get it off. Water and all purpose cleaner didn't work. The answer is rubbing alcohol! I told Caleb it was magic. He wanted to help after that.

periodic collection of cute things my kids say

"Mom, when you were pregnant the twinkle of me was in your eye, and the body of me was in your stomach." - Caleb Black, Age 5 "I gotta get over to the temple." - Taylor Black, Age 2 "We gotta 'claws' this movie" - Taylor Black, Age 2 "firepasser" (pacifier) - Taylor Black, Age 2 "Make-it Donald's" (McDonald's) -Taylor Black, Age 2 "Person" (purse) -Taylor Black, Age 2 "I had a dream that me and my friend were standing by the girls' bathroom and my friend told me he was going to dress like a chicken and go in." (followed by hilarious laughing...and more laughing...and more laughing...) - Caleb Black, Age 5 I have to add these before I forget from a long time ago: One night we stayed in a downtown hotel in SLC. Caleb looked out the window and said in a serious voice, "The city is at war out there." (from ninja turtles) - Caleb Black, Age 3 One morning I got Taylor out of his crib and sat ...
