Halloween, 2012

2012 was a Star Wars theme for Halloween. We had lots of fun with the whole thing. Eli was actually supposed to be Yoda, but he stole Taylor's Chewbacca costume while he was at school.  I didn't have most of my costume ready, but I wore my Laia hair buns. Josh is Han Solo.  He was disappointed that his hand made belt buckle broke before the picture. Fun with photoshop

Taylor talk

Taylor:  I have a question about your body parts. Me: okay, go ahead. Taylor: .... ...Me: you don't get to choose whether you have a boy or a girl. Taylor: I already know that rule. You get what you get and you don't throw a fit.

Scientific stuff in a glass

Taylor and Eli have been sticking together lately.  It is really adorable.  (This is our back yard.  We like that we have trees). Anyway, apparently household soaps are very scientific.. The fun thing about this is the very pretty arrangement.  We go through way too much soap.  Taylor calls this "scientific stuff in a jar"

And we got a cat.

This is Ginger In the spring Ginger showed up at our house very pregnant.  We looked and looked for a shelter to take a pregnant cat.  It was kitten season and the shelters were all full. Finally I got in touch with SpaySA, who would spay and vaccinate her for $20.  We also had to bring her in an approved animal trap. Getting the trap required a small seminar and a deposit of $70, refundable if the trap was returned. At the seminar we learned that San Antonio has a huge feral and stray cat population. They gave the example of LA, which has 30,000.  San Antonio has 180,000.  They really wanted us to trap and spay or neuter as many cats as we could before returning the trap.  Most of the cats they see are feral, meaning born in the wild. They are very leery of humans, and hence the need to trap them.  Ginger was just a stray, meaning she had once had a home.  She is very sweet and cooperative.  We trapped her easily and the...

And then we bought a house

Here are all the repairs we were going to take on.  We have done only a very few so far. The following are pictures of the new carpet and paint. And then starting to move things in.  The house was in the beginning stages of getting painted. They were replacing damaged wood and priming it.  This is how the house still looks because we haven't finished this part yet.

First Day of School

The first week of school was crazy.  We started out living in one house and at the end of the week we were living in another. This is the first day of school in our old house. The awful thing is, I thought school started a whole week later. I had been working on painting and getting carpet in the new house the week before. We were scrambling to get clothes and shoes and hair cuts the Saturday before because of my mistake.
