My Grandma Grace Worley Boyer

My Grandma Gracie died Monday, March 1, 2010. Almost exactly 15 years after her husband passed. It has truly been a tremendously emotional 15 years. After the death of her husband, Sydney York Boyer in 1995, my grandma's health began to deteriorate. She started to develop symptoms of Alzheimer's disease, including dementia . This worsened over time. When I was 17 she moved in with my family. With the onset of dementia , she was extremely hard on me. My mom said it was traces of her southern upbringing and some personality that were being magnified. She would blame things on me that I could not have done. She thought I was stealing the Tupperware lids when I came home to visit from college. She always accused me of being on the phone (which, if you know me, you know I don't like talking on the phone.) And many other little things. She always snapped her fingers at me like I was a puppy. After I was married she started doing it to my kids. It started to go around...
