Planting a Garden update

Projects done, finally

Thank you Karen Weatherston for the Vinyl, and friend Sharon for the wood! It is a cabinet door she picked up from Habitat for Humanity. I wanted to put up a cork board for Caleb because he was sticking lots of things on the wall. My friend Sharon had the idea to cover the corkboard and then make specialized pins by gluing something on them. I really liked this fabric and the buttons I found to put on them. Unfortunately I didn't like how busy that fabric is. Oh well though, because I am NOT redoing it! Besides Caleb said "This is AMAZING mom!"

Friday the 13th

A few misfortunes to start off the evening. (we were going to make misfortune cookies, but we didn't have time) pesto popcorn, and brown sugar flavored popcorn to go with a scary movie- Harry Potter On the menu: monster toes, frog-eye salad, and mystery drink. Josh and I went on a date afterward and saw Defending L.A. Boy that was...something.

Weight Loss Contest, 2011

www.lettuceeatcake.weebly.com This year our weight loss contest was fun for me. I loved having so many family members involved. It was also great that Sarah and Ben were number one and three. Congrats to you guys!! Sarah collected $55 and got a winner's T-shirt. The T-shirts were a bit lame and I was especially embarrassed to send them to a graphic designer. Oh well, Lettuceeatcake is a little SILLY, so the T-shirts fit the style!

Funnies

Taylor: I know why super heroes wear a disguise. So they can get in " da skys " Caleb: Mom, don't fill up my hole in the yard, (in a know-it-all, duh kind of voice) I'm digging to the mantel!!. (incredulous look) Taylor: while putting vanilla in the cookie dough, "I like my cookies with a dark side." Eli's first sentence: " Tay Tay , ow, me."

Easter

We spent Easter in Corpus Christi. Caleb asks me all the time if the Easter Bunny is real and I always tell him that he is if he believes he is real. Caleb's response one day was, "mom, you should believe in the Easter Bunny. You could really save yourself alot of money!"

Best Friend Good -Bye

Kaylen & Caleb Ethan & Taylor Both of my boys cried and cried for a week after they moved. The day after they left, Caleb was playing video games and in between every turn he would cry. Taylor was just angry that Ethan was gone. He really improved in behavior during the time that Ethan was coming over. Ethan taught Taylor how to be a friend. We really miss having them here.

Kaylen's Going Away Party

Caleb's best friend, who happened to live across the street moved in April, so we threw him a going away party. It was fun to celebrate Kaylen. We had all of his favorite things: apples, donuts, cookies, pizza, macaroni and cheese, green stuff, a lego present and a lego guy cake.

New Beginnings

This year I was in charge of the Young Women's New Beginnings program. My theme was spotlight and the red carpet. I took each of the girls who would be entering into YW this year out for a photo shoot and then we spotlighted them at the program and displayed their photo shoot pictures. I had so much fun putting this together. I was glad I was able to get a real spotlight from our church stage to decorate. They were throwing it out and I salvaged it. The three photo shoot posts under this are the girls' photo shoot pictures.

Spring Break Fun part 5

Early the next morning it was off to Canyon Lake

Spring Break Fun part 4

We went with our friends, the Hartzell's, to Enchanted Springs. After all this fun we went to the Hartzell's for a fish fry (Halibut and smoked salmon from Alaska) and Caleb spent the night out in the tent with the other kids)

Spring Break Fun part 3

St. Patrick's Day was during spring break this year, so we made sure we had green food, spring crafts, and green hair!

Spring Break Fun part 2

On this day we went to the library, the playground at the library, and then for a hike at Comanche Lookout. After that we went to the movie Rango, and then out for ice cream at Cold Stone. WHAT A DAY!!

Spring Break Fun part 1

Monday we went camping at my mom's house out on "the land."

Planting a Garden

I felt so strongly that I was supposed to plant a garden that I dug a hole out of the middle of the yard and planted one. I planted tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, carrots, peas, radishes, watermelon, pumpkin, rosemary, cilanatro, parsley, mint and basil

Jumping back into my blog...

It has been a while, so I may be binge blogging. This is Caleb the Sunday before St. Patrick's Day
