New(ish) bed

Okay, so the pictures will have to come down

Taylor has to duck his head a little to get into the area under the bed but he can actually stand up and jump on his bed once inside.

We have been looking into bunk beds for a while, but somehow it has seemed like an emergency lately. Josh wanted to build it after looking at the flimsy versions we saw in a reasonable price range. He designed this loft bed that securely hold Caleb's old bed on top and then bought a toddler bed at a garage sale to slip underneath.

Both are having fun playing on it, but Taylor still chooses the crib to sleep in. hmmm. He has four weeks to change his mind.

By the way, WAY TO GO JOSH!

I have to say that I was skeptical about how sturdy it would be. Poor structural engineer Josh was very offended by that. Okay, I should have figured it would be great, but child safety and all of that. I guess if I was REALLY concerned about safety, we wouldn't be putting Caleb so far up in the air. Caleb reassures us though that he has had three LONG nights of not falling off and so everything is okay.

If you are concerned about Kaleb falling off you can buy a bedrail. We have one for Alix and it is really sturdy but easy to remove when you don't want it. The bed looks awesome though. As far as the crib, I would take it away cold turkey right now. You might have a few hard days, but better now than after the baby comes...you wouldn't get ANY sleep :)
That is awesome! I like Caleb's reassurance of how well he's sleeping in his new bunkbed.

I would agree with Laura about putting a bedrail on the top. I think all bunk beds have a rail for the top. He might only fall once, but I can see him hitting his head on that dresser! That is awesome though. I will have to show Nolan. I started Lexa out with taking naps in a real bed, then graduating to night time in a bed.
