Vacation Blogging

This may be the first real family vacation we have been on. Thusly, I must blog...

Denver vacationing:

First we stayed with my good friends Samantha and Easton (from my days in Provo) and her cute family in Millikin, CO. She is expecting her third . It was a girl until the end of the week, when it magically turned into a boy on the ultrasound. Samantha and Easton make the best homemade pizza I have ever tasted. Delicious! They even made it stuffed crust with cheese.

Next we headed off to Severance, CO to see our friends Steffenie and Nolan. They lived near us in Austin. They had Lexa a few months after we moved in. She is a big girl now! I have lots of fond memories taking walks with Steffenie and our friend Carrie when she was trying to get that baby to come!
Lexa and Caleb got married while we played a good game of Ticket to Ride. So, they fed us delicious Hawaiian haystacks, and strawberry shortcake (new favorite recipe-found on Bisquick box). They also sent us away with a great Bulgoki dinner. Oh, I love Korean food! Their newish baby Clara didn't make a picture I guess, but she was very cute.

Then we were off to Rachel and Jeff's place (Josh's sister). They were kind enough to let us bunk there for five days! Thanks so much guys! First we went to the butterfly pavilion in West Minster. It was great and Taylor loved it with all the butterflies flying around our heads.

That night for FHE we went to Flat Iron Crossing (mall) where they have a gigantic sand box for the kids to play with. Afterward we got snow cones and ice cream. The next morning the kids, Rachel and Josh took a dip in their pool while I slept. When I woke up it was time for Josh and I to get out of town and leave the kids with Rachel for a little anniversary getaway in Evergreen.

Wednesday we met Josh's friends, the Kindreds (from Utah state), at the 16th Street Mall.
The boys were friends fast!

That night, we played games with Jeff and Rachel. We hadn't seen much of Jeff because for a while he is shadowing at his hospital and working crazy shifts.

The next day we went to see Wall-E with Caleb and Taylor. The highlight was getting mooned by a female youth who was posing for a camera phone shot. Kids these days.

The next day we we able to visit my aunt Linda and her husband Butch. Heather, my younger cousin and her four kids came over and we had a BBQ. It was fun, but we could not find our camera. Caleb burned himself pretty bad on a sparkler that night.

July 4th we went to Rachel and Jeff's ward breakfast, and then headed out to Red Rocks. It was indescribable. They were setting up for Blue's Traveler that night. After a long road trip in the mountain we finally stopped at a park for a picnic and played in the nice cool stream. For dinner we went to the awesomest Mexican food, by Rachel's recommendation, Hacienda Colorado. If you go there we suggest fish tacos or barbacoa chimichanga with tomatillo sauce. Then it was off to the Thornton city fireworks.

We had a great time getting to know Anna a little better and just having time to spend with Jeff and Rachel. We were sad to miss Jeff's awesome Italian food dinner, but luckily we there were left overs! Rachel also made the best peanut butter candy ever. We devoured half of them the first night there. And in a shocking turn of events...the baby girl they were expecting also magically turned into a boy while we were there! Congratulations!

The Last part of our trip we spent with the Moodys. These are our friends that moved away to Castle Rock in April. It was so fun to see them again. Everyone in my family loves everyone in their family. So we met up at the Denver zoo on Saturday. That night we went to the local Rec center. There were water slides for the adults and it was like I was teenager all over again going up to the top with Jenni.

On Sunday Jenni fed us awesome breakfast casserole, chicken sandwiches, and chicken burritos. You can tell what my favorite part of the trip was!!! Let's just say I gained at least 5lbs! It was so fun to see everyone. We loved Colorado and hope to go back sometime. Thanks to everyone for your hospitality! We love you all.

Your trip looks like a blast. Caleb is looking so much older and Taylor is such a cutie. You're welcome to make the drive out here to D.C. next summer...it's only a few more hours than Denver :)
