Labor Day Breakfast

We invited a bunch of people over for breakfast on Labor Day. I am really glad we did, otherwise we would have been missing the canyon in Utah too much.

...and I turned 30!

Caleb's first day of 1st Grade

Our traditional ice cream party for the first day of school! We follow this by Josh giving him a Father's blessing. By the way, this was on Aug. 24. Caleb is doing very well in school this year. It has been much better than last year. Our first ice cream party for Kindergarten Caleb's first day of 1st Grade: 6:45 am Caleb's first day of Kindergarten

Place Holder for Barbara's funeral

My Aunt Barbara passed away in August of inflammatory breast cancer. The cancer had spread in her body, as you would expect. But something unexpected was how the hospital handled her case. They were convinced that the lower abdominal pain was a problem with her gall bladder, and so they removed it. While still in the hospital recovering she remained very uncomfortable. After a few weeks they decided to give her a CAT scan to make sure it wasn't cancer. (Now, I'm no doctor, but...) Yes, it was cancer (the size of a softball) and they gave her 2-14 days to live and sent her home on hospice. She passed away just over a day after returning home. This is what I remember anyway. If any readers remember better, leave a comment. I hope to get better pictures on here of the hand made casket and flowers. Just after the funeral services. I guess I am glad that kids don't understand.

Taylor is like his dad

I was changing Taylor's diaper tonight (yes, he is still in diapers) and... I said, "bare bottom, bare bottom." Taylor said, "I don't have a bear bottom, I have a people bottom!" Just like his Dad: Taylor: I don't want to wear diapers anymore! I am a big boy. me: then you have to get potty trained Taylor: what is potty trained? me: getting your pee in the toilet (we've gone over this one a few times!!!) Taylor: Oh. I think I will do that tomorrow. Josh had a dream that he found out Taylor was really his co-worker's son and I never told him. yikes. Anyhow, I was telling my friends about it and they said, "Taylor?!?" Maybe Caleb or Eli, but definitely NOT Taylor." Josh is a little insulted because he thinks it is the cheeks...and it is.
