UT v. Oklahoma back in October

Did I ever tell you that I LOVE China? it fascinates me. I don't even have to tell you that I want to eat Chinese noodles every day do I? It's a crazy place. Currently on my mind about China- by Xinhua Writer Zhang Zhengfu BEIJING, Dec. 5 ( Xinhua ) -- A 30-second TV commercial remains a hot topic in China nearly two weeks after four Chinese industry associations launched a "Made in China" ad campaign on the CNN news network. The ad, currently airing on the International, U.S. and Headline News channels of the CNN, highlights international involvement in producing high-quality Chinese goods. It features an MP3 "Made in China with software from Silicon Valley" and clothes "Made in China with French designers," among others. "It is necessary to let the world know China is not the only country that benefits from 'Made in China.' Those who set trade barriers would themselves suffer from their own measures," a...

Brushing your teeth

A few nights ago Josh told Caleb he had to brush his teeth or he was going to get cavities. Caleb asked, "after i get on my pajamas, can we look up pictures of cavities on the Internet ?" So as a family activity we looked up tooth decay and cavities. It scared Caleb so much he ran to the bathroom to brush his teeth. Caleb and Taylor even let me floss their teeth. Next thing I know, I am flossing and then Josh is flossing. We should keep pictures by our sinks to remind us!

Clearing my dry erase board

Every time my kids say something funny i write it on our dry erase board so I can remember it. I am now ready to erase it, so we can actually use it for what it is intended (shopping list, reminders, etc .) Taylor: hotdogspital (hospital) collage cheese (cottage cheese) fru nacks (fruit snacks) snowflakes (frosted flakes) I want some two um (I want two) A child's prayer "help us make me better, thanks for the dinosaurs, thanks for this prayer, thanks for Christmas, thanks for dad and mom, thanks for the napkins." conversations with Caleb- me: let's save your sandwich in a sandwich bag until you are ready to eat it. Caleb: no, no. no! We should really use plastic reusable containers. me: Caleb I am not going to let you go to PBS kids.org anymore Caleb: mom, it is bad for the environment. no! don't put my sandwich in a plastic bag! (lots of crying) me: dang it. we have already purchased this bag and it will already be ruining the environment whether we u...

The anti-climatic Unveiling

Last month I drove Caleb and Eli to Corpus Christi to see my nephew get baptised. It was a nice quiet trip luckily. Anyhow, I started thinking (because I had a chance to thingk) about my weight loss and training goals and I realized that I succed when I have other people to help me. I started thinking about how to do this and I thought, "what if i came up with my own weight loss contest?" Well, here it is: http://www.lettuceeatcake.weebly.com/ If you would like to support me and the others in the contest, sign up now by leaving a comment or e-mailing me at juliebblack@gmail.com Another major reason I am doing this is because of my family's predisposition to get diabetes. (Jonathon Owen, how would I write that better?) Already my mom, dad, and sister have it and another brother who is getting close. We can all use a little motivation to make good health choices!

Caleb's first race

At the beginning of the school year the kids of San Antonio were challenged to complete a marathon in 10 weeks- "The School Rock Challenge." I believe they do this in cities where they have a "Rock & Roll Marathon." (such as Phoenix, Dallas, Chicago, Nashville, etc.) Anyhow, Caleb came home with a schedule with how many miles a week they needed to run. On the second to last day, the entire school runs the 25th mile together. The next day they may choose to run the 26th mile in a fun run at Brackenridge Park. It was difficult to fit in all those miles, but we did it. There were a few nights when I drove the car with the younger boys, and Caleb ran around the block...in the dark...just to get our miles in. On the way to the race we were trying to prepare Caleb that it was all about finishing and not winning. He said, "yeah, it's about finishing....finishing first!" We said, are you going to be sad if someone passes you? He said, "no I...

microfibre is da bomb

So Taylor wrote all over our microfiber couches with pen and pink highlighter. ! Now these are just a few of the spots he inked. Initially I screamed in horror so that my throat was soar and then had a mental/emmotional break down. I had to put everyone in the car in seat belts and drive away from the house to keep the children locked down and safe from their mother. Frantically I read online about how to get it off. Water and all purpose cleaner didn't work. The answer is rubbing alcohol! I told Caleb it was magic. He wanted to help after that.

periodic collection of cute things my kids say

"Mom, when you were pregnant the twinkle of me was in your eye, and the body of me was in your stomach." - Caleb Black, Age 5 "I gotta get over to the temple." - Taylor Black, Age 2 "We gotta 'claws' this movie" - Taylor Black, Age 2 "firepasser" (pacifier) - Taylor Black, Age 2 "Make-it Donald's" (McDonald's) -Taylor Black, Age 2 "Person" (purse) -Taylor Black, Age 2 "I had a dream that me and my friend were standing by the girls' bathroom and my friend told me he was going to dress like a chicken and go in." (followed by hilarious laughing...and more laughing...and more laughing...) - Caleb Black, Age 5 I have to add these before I forget from a long time ago: One night we stayed in a downtown hotel in SLC. Caleb looked out the window and said in a serious voice, "The city is at war out there." (from ninja turtles) - Caleb Black, Age 3 One morning I got Taylor out of his crib and sat ...

Elijah William Black- baby blessing outfit

Eli was actually blessed in early August at six weeks old, but for some reason I never got a picture of him in his outfit. My mom made it, and has made one for each of my boys. Of course I have a dream that someday she will be able to make us a beautiful dress for a girl. Anyway I figured I could still take some pictures of him in it at 4 1/2 months old. You know...for posterity.

I love to mix my cereal but...

Taylor and friend Nathan notice the floor behind them... oh no you didn't! That is about 8 boxes of cereal right there. The Ultimate Cereal Mix
